www.moversodyssey.com
Weighted Vest: amzn.to/4cg7tUF
Mike Tyson is known for outstanding power, strength, speed and stamina. His training routine has changed a number of times over the years and has been primarily made up of boxing specific drills, sparring and calisthenics. Among the many bodyweight exercises Tyson has used, the rocking push up with wall foot reference has gotten the most attention, so much so that it's now known by his namesake, the Mike Tyson Push Up. This is a very unique looking push up variation and is harder than it might initially seem. In this video we will deep dive into the benefits of this push up and how to perform it properly.

    I do have some words of advice to any man looking to go for this build, fastest and easiest way to do this is do landscaping, farming or building for two years. Trust me the weakest builder is still stronger than the mediums weight lifters. I can still dead lift 150kg for 50kg, 5'8ft. Ive lifted bags of cement my size while i was doing building like it was nothing, same applies to when i did landscaping. Farming you have hey bails and sheep. With small scale farming the bigger the area you dig up the same applies if you are doing soil rotation. Sods of earth can weigh up to 25 kg. I keep my body in this shape as a sleeper build because I dont like a lot of attention but all my exs learned very quickly, looks can be decieving.

    Its all about muscle definition not bulk. Bulk destroys definition. Think of it from the law of conservation of energy. As you bulk you are only getting 10% of output for 90% of muscle. Train the muscles to the max while keeping you diet the same. It will build without bulk but also it will build up the muscle endurance. Go long, single burst reps. Eg 50 crunches as one rep rather then 10 crunches as 5 reps. Lean build requires high muscle endurance.

      There was 80's footage from a late 90's or early 2000's dvd. I remember seeing it in my teens and thinking it was a strange way to do push ups. But I can't remember clearly enough to know if it was this exact variation, and I can't find the footage online. I looked around and all I could find was other people on forums swearing they had seen the same clip. I'm hoping it pops up again and gets put online, we may all be calling the wrong push up the tyson pushup.

      Unless there is another version of hindu push ups I'm not yet aware of, these are different, though they look similar at first glance due to the rocking motion. The hindu pushup ends in a cobra position with the spine arched and the tyson push up ends in a normal push up with the spine in neutral. Also the Tyson push up completely bends at athe knees and hips while the hindu push up bends at the hips but keeps the knees fairly straight. I like hindu push ups a lot, and they are similar, but I use hindu push ups for mobility with a little added strength. The tyson push up seems to require more pure strength and explosiveness.

      Every case is often unique, but you may just need to do this push up on your knees. It's still really effective on the knees and will certainly burn calories. For people who are overweight to the point of making calisthenics uncomfortable, it's often best to start with weights. As many overweight people tend to gain strength really well anyway, and adding muscle is the one of the quickest ways to burn fat. If you find doing this doesn't feel good or is too difficult, I would suggest kettlebells as another excellent route to weight loss and overall health. I actually think Mark Wildman has a whole program for overweight and deconditioned individuals. He made it because he had become very overweight after recovering from a motorcycle accident I'm pretty sure. Might be worth looking into.

    • @moversodyssey
      @moversodyssey День назад

      It's safest to start with kettlebell swings, cleans and snatches honestly. You still get a lot of the benefits while your body learns to explode from the hips and keep a neutral spine, all in a more beginner friendly manner. In the mean time, you can start the supplementary lifts you will need under your belt to do olympic lifting anyway. Front squats, pronated grip dead lifts, and snatch grip overhead squats with just the bar to build up shoulder and hip mobility. After 2-3 months you can add in hang cleans, then power cleans and jerk. Few months after that you can start pulling it all together and do full clean and jerks and snatches. If you progress in steps like this it's a lot easier to learn on your own and much less dangerous. The soviets used to train athletes with this type of progression.
